Jasper Mountain, Eugene based Blue Grass band

Jasper Mountain is my favorite blue grass band based in Eugene. I had the good fortune to see them practicing during my last visit to Eugene. Here are some of the private pictures I took of this versatile band in action..
The photo includes the suave and lissome Melissa Stark on Ukulele. She has the smoothest feminine voice that I am mad about. Melanie Spiecher the other glamorous hottie with equally amazing voice gives this band a spark that most other blue grass band can't match. Artie Lieder on doboro is god. I can just spend my rest of life watching him play. The lanky Sean McGowan may turn head with his adonis looks and disarming smile and yet he is a magician with the upright bass. Goofy frank would be playing Mandolin on one second and the next second he would be playing banjovi and again next he will be on clarinet and yet if you were not looking you will be wondering if there are 3 different people. Finally the awesome, soft spoken, vegan poster child Ken Viscidi who plays both harmonica and guitar at the same time makes this group one of the most sonorous blue grass band around. I hope they soon make a trip over here to illinois otherwise I will be going back to Oregon again pretty soon.

This week

Dear Sumant,

The first week of class has passed. I am taking Measure Theory, Combinatorics and Continnum Mechanics. Fun Classes !! Today I also tried to play badminton and it was a good feeling to be back on court. I look forward to return back to playing normal. I also played Ping-Pong for a while. There was a little party in the evenning at John's place. Christine and Nichole also showed up. Christine brought some real nice rice crispies that reminded me of "lie ke ladoo".

That's for now

Holidays coming to end

Dear Sumant,
As I update this blog from Jasper in Springfield, Oregon. This has been one of the awesome break. I read a lot, watched tons of movies and had a wonderful vacation. Thanks to Ken. He has been an awesome host, looking after us for whole week and this adage of franklin keeps ringing "Fish and guest stinks after 3 days" and here we have been here for now almost 5 days. We tried so many restaurants and its been amazing. Eugene is demographically much different from Carbondale. I haven't seen a single African American here though I did see a few in Portland but than its a much bigger city. Its very vegetarian friendly and I love that. Almost all the restaurants we been to have explicit menu for vegetarians, so in a way in foretells the trend that will take place in rest of the country. I heard Seattle is even more vegetarian friendly. Ken has been showing us around and we just came back from one of his friend Jossiah's birthday and it was a real nice party and friendly people.

That's for now

Update on Oregon Travel

Dear Sumant,
This break so far has been fabulous. Thanks to Ken for taking so much of his precious time to show us around. Yesterday we went to Cross Country Sking at Gold Lake. I am updating this blog from our hotel Marriott in Portland. Today we went to a Malaysian Restaurant called Kinta on SE Belmont. We met Kaleb there and then we went to a bar Bye & Bye. Ken bought us all a drink, I had Nebraska, which was hot and had cinnamom besides apple cider and other things. Yesterday we went to a place called PRI (Pizza Research Institute) and they had one of the best Pizza I had in my life. Tomorrow we plan to go to a Vegan Mall plus several other places.
