Thinking about the upcoming break

I was reading an article by Timothy Gowers about the tension between problem solving community and the research community and the importance of the two groups. I love problem solving because it's so much fun and combinatorics is a branch which to an outsider appears more as a course in techniques of solving specific esoteric problem than a subject with a coherent theory and Gower's defense was disabusing people of that notion. It's a really nices article. He talks about his own experience in cohomology which gave him insight in to his own work.
